The idea for the Working in Music Network grew from conversations at the Working in Music conference in Glasgow in January 2106.
Conceived as an informal means of continuing and developing the many discussions and debates around musical labour that began at the conference, it comprises researchers from a diverse set of disciplinary backgrounds, employing a wide variety of approaches.
It is hoped that from this core of founding members the network will grow in number in order to further enrich the conversation. Moreover, those with an interest in musical work from beyond academia are equally welcome.
The Working in Music Network will be involved in a number of workshops and seminars devised to foster fruitful engagements between academics and musicians. A number of Network members will be presenting papers at the IASPM International Conference in Kassel, Germany in June 2017.
